Tuesday, January 19, 1999
On Sunday, January 17, 1999, at 7:30 p.m., North Hollywood patrol officers responded to an "ambulance shots fired" call in the 7600 block of Laurel Canyon Blvd. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims down at the location suffering from gunshot wounds. Victim #1, Hector Aguilar, male, Hispanic, 23 years, of Sun Valley, was pronounced dead at the scene. Victim #2, 22-year-old Mauricio Flores, also from Sun Valley, was transported by ambulance to Pacifica Hospital. He was treated for a single gunshot wound to his left leg and released.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the victims had been shot for unknown reason as they walked westbound on Saticoy St. from Laurel Canyon Blvd. The suspect, described only as a male Hispanic in his mid-20’s, ran to a green mid-sized pick-up with a green camper shell and got into the passenger seat. The vehicle then fled the scene.

The motive for this shooting has not been determined. It is unknown at this time if this incident is gang-related.
