Man Stabbed to Death on Street

Los Angeles:  A man was found stabbed to death near the intersection of Saticoy Street and Morella Avenue late Saturday night.

On June 7, 2008, at around 11:40 p.m., police were called to the area of Saticoy Street and Morella Avenue to investigate a man down at the location.  When officers arrived they discovered 34-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with multiple stab wounds.

Los Angeles City Fire personnel responded and provided emergency treatment for the victim before transporting him to a local hospital where he died.

Detectives believe that the victim had been walking westbound on the north side of Saticoy Street when the suspect, identified as Edwin Morales, a 20-year-old resident of North Hollywood, confronted the victim and began to argue with him.  Suspect Morales struck the victim over the head with a glass bottle then stabbed him multiple times with a knife.

North Hollywood Detectives took Morales into custody without incident on Sunday, June 8, 2008, around 11:30 a.m.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification to members of the victim's family.
