LAPD Detectives Investigate Homicide of Sun Valley Teen

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person(s) responsible for the shooting death of a 16-year-old, Sun Valley resident.

On Saturday, August 2, 2008 at about 9:15 p.m., LAPD North Hollywood Division officers went to investigate a radio call for an “assault with a deadly weapon” at the 8200 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard at the Taco Bell restaurant. Officers found the victim collapsed near the restaurant with several gunshot wounds to the chest. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

Witnesses saw the victim walking with a friend in the area of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Roscoe Boulevard when he was confronted by the suspect. The suspect pulled out a handgun and fired several shots at the victim. The victim was shot several times in the chest, but managed to run to the nearby Taco Bell.

The victim has been identified as Edward Satterstron, a 16 year old from Sun Valley. Satterstron was a student at John Francis Polytechnic High School where he played on the football team.

Witnesses described a possible suspect fleeing the area as a male, Hispanic, late teens to early 20s, with slicked black hair, wearing a black shirt and gray pants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact North Hollywood Detectives Timothy Kirkpatrick or Jose Calzadillas at 818-623-4075. After hours and on weekends calls may be directed to the 24-hour toll free number, 1-877-LAW-FULL (529-3855).
