Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide detectives arrested 52-year-old Rialto resident Kurtis King in the city of Rialto.

On January 10, 2018, North Hollywood Area patrol officers received a radio call of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon Cutting, man down, near the 6000 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard. When officers arrived, they discovered the victim down at scene with multiple stab wounds. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased around 9:15 a.m. Officers secured the scene and contacted Valley Bureau Homicide.

Valley Bureau Homicide personnel responded and processed the crime scene and gathered evidence of the incident. The preliminary investigation revealed the victim, John David Bannan III, a local transient, appeared to have been pan handling outside of the business. He appears to have exchanged words with a male suspect as the male exited the business.

The nature of the verbal exchange is unknown now, however, whatever was said appears to have incited the suspect. The suspect returned in a vehicle, quickly exited and rushed the victim, tackling him on the sidewalk just north of the store. The suspect stabbed the victim five to six times before fleeing the scene. The suspect was identified as 52-year- old Rialto resident Kurtis King.
