Los Angeles: On October 28, 2000, at approximately 3:42 p.m., Newton Area officers responded to the scene of a homicide in the rear alley of 1298 East Martin Luther King Boulevard. Los Angeles City Fire Rescue, arrived and observed 41 year-old Earlee Dorn inside the cab of his work truck, shot to death.
The investigation revealed that the victim sustained gunshot wounds to his upper torso. At the time of the initial investigation, investigating officers did not know the last location where Earlee Dorn was seen alive. It wasn’t until the news conference on December 8, 2000 that investigating officers received further information on the murder of Earlee Dorn.
The information received was that on Friday, October 27, 2000, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Earlee Dorn was at the drive-through window of the "Churches Chicken" at 2604 South Central Avenue, (Central and Adams). Due to the size of his work truck, Earlee Dorn left it unoccupied, with the engine running. Earlee Dorn walked to the drive through window and unknown to him, a suspect(s) entered the vehicle and began to drive away. Earlee Dorn, in an attempt to rescue his lively hood, attempted to stop the suspect(s). He ran to the truck and confronted the driver. Unfortunately for Earlee Dorn, he was shot while attempting to stop the suspect(s).
The suspect(s) drove the vehicle to the rear alley of 1298 East Martin Luther King Boulevard and abandoned the truck with Earlee in it. As of this writing, detectives believe the motive for this murder is robbery.
Photos of the victim, Earlee Dorn, as well as Dorn family members will be available at the press conference.
