Pedestrian Killed in Hit and Run

Los Angeles: On Thursday, November 21, 2002 at 11:35 p.m., a fatal hit and run traffic collision occurred at the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and Hauser Boulevard, in Los Angeles.

The victim, a 60-70 year-old female resident of Los Angeles, who has not been positively identified, was walking southbound Hauser Boulevard in a marked crosswalk. As she reached the eastbound lanes of San Vicente Boulevard, a vehicle traveling eastbound struck her. The vehicle failed to stop and continued eastbound leaving the victim lying in the roadway. The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.

The vehicle is described as a dark, possible pickup truck. Evidence recovered at the scene would indicate that the suspect vehicle had headlight damage and may have some damage to the grill and hood area.

Anyone with information that may assist in this investigation is urged to contact Los Angeles Police Department, West Traffic Division 213-473-0234. On weekends and during off-hours call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk, 1-877-LAWFULL 1-877-529-3855.

This press release was prepared by Public Information Officer Adriana N. Sanchez, Media Relations Section at 213-485-3586.
