Los Angeles: On November 23, 2002, at 8:11 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department Northeast Area police officers responded to a "Shots fired" radio call on the 900 block of Aragon Avenue.

The officers arrived at the residence and discovered 29 year-old Dante Rayes. He had been shot several times. Los Angeles Paramedics transported Rayes to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

LAPD investigators believe the murder of Rayes was gang-related. No suspects are in custody and no weapon was recovered.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call LAPD Northeast Area Homicide Detectives at 213-485-2566. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24 hour toll-free number at 1-877-529-3855, 1-877-LAWFULL.

This press release was prepared by Officer Jack Richter, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
