Los Angeles: Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of Manuel Edgardo Palacios, a male Hispanic, 41 years of age. On November 24, 2002, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the victim and his wife were returning home from grocery shopping. As the victim prepared to enter his residence, which is located in the 1300 block of Dacotah Street, numerous gunshots were heard and believed to have originated from the vicinity of the Lou Costello Jr. Recreation Center. The Center is located approximately 100 yards from the victim’s residence. One of the stray rounds struck the victim in the chest area.

Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
