Shooting Leaves Two Dead; Motive Unknown

 

Los Angeles: On Monday, November 25, 2002, at approximately 11:24 p.m, Hollywood officers responded to a call of a shooting incident in the parking lot at, 5420 Sunset Boulevard, the Food-4-Less Market. On arrival, the officers discovered that a 49 year-old male Hispanic had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

At approximately the same time, Newton Area officers responded to a shots fired radio call at a residence on E. 62nd Street, where a 38 year-old male Hispanic of a shooting was located. That victim was transported to a local hospital where he was also pronounced dead on arrival.

Subsequent investigation revealed that both victims had received their injuries at the same time at 5420 Sunset Boulevard. The victim at the the E. 62nd Street had been driven there by a friend. The relationship between the two victims, if any, has not been established.

The motive and suspect (s) remain unknown at this time. Evidence at the scene suggests that a third unknown person may have also sustained gunshot wounds and fled on foot. That person’s condition and identity remain a mystery.

Both victims’ identities are being withheld pending notification to their next of kin.

Hollywood Homicide Detectives are seeking the assistance from the public. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Hollywood Homicide Unit at 213-485-6410.
