Los Angeles - - With the Holidays upon us, and in the spirit of giving, the Los Angeles Police Department and the community it serves are combining efforts to donate unwrapped toys and books for the many underprivileged children in the Los Angeles Area.

Throughout this past year, we have been faced with unprecedented obstacles, challenges and a newly reprised feeling of City unity. With so many overwhelming recent events that have shaken our sense of security, it is assuring to know that as a City, we will recover, and prosper together simply because we care and are committed to serving each other.

In keeping with the tradition of giving, especially during the holidays, the Mayor’s Office, LAPD Chief of Police William J. Bratton and the entire Department are sponsoring a Community Toy Drive. This year’s event, titled "Discovering the Angel in All of Us", is primarily focused on community members and their families who are in need of assistance.

In the press conference, Chief William J. Bratton will provide specific details of how the community can get involved by donating toys or books for this joyous event. Once donations have been made, each Area Police Station will have a detailed schedule of their individual Area’s planned events.
