Reward Offered in Homicide Investigations

Who:
Harbor Homicide Detectives, Family Members of Murder Victims

What:
A Press Conference to Announce Two Separate $25,000 Rewards for Information Leading to the Arrest of the Killers of Samuel Ramirez and Nelly Bernal.

When:
Monday, December 2, 2002 at 2:00 p.m.

Where:
Harbor Community Police Station, 2175 John Gibson, San Pedro

Los Angeles: On July 12, 2002, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Harbor Area patrol officers responded to a shooting that occurred in the 1200 block of West Anaheim Street in Harbor City. The occupants of another vehicle fatally shot 17 year-old Samuel Ramirez as he drove his red Ford Mustang west on Anaheim. Ramirez’ passenger was also shot, but survived. The vehicle crashed into a building as a result of the shooting.

A photo of the victim, Samuel Ramirez as well as Ramirez family members will be available at the press conference.

On February 5, 2002, 22 year-old, Nelly Bernal was found murdered and dumped inside an oil drum, which was left in the alley behind the 1200 block of West Anaheim Street. The drum had been in the alley for several months. There has been no arrest in the case.

A photo of the victim, Nelly Bernal as well as Bernal family members will be available at the press conference.

The City Council has approved two separate $25,000.00 rewards for anyone who has information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for either of these incidents.
