Case Update on Heinous Murder

News Conference to announce the arrest of the second suspect in the murder of 14 year-old Byron Lee

Los Angeles: On October 9, 2004, at about 2:10 p.m., fourteen year-old Byron Lee was riding his bicycle in the area of McKinley Avenue and 81 st Street. Two suspects approached Byron in their car and followed him westbound through the alley west of McKinley Avenue between 81 st Street and 82 nd Street. The suspects got out of their car and approached Byron, who was injured and on the ground, resting on one knee. The suspects briefly spoke with Byron as he was on the ground, and shot him several times with handguns. The suspects left the scene in their vehicle westbound through the alley to Stanford Avenue.
On October 21, 2004 , 19 year-old David Michael Porter was arrested for his participation in the homicide. On November 14, 2004 , at about 1:10 A.M. , the second suspect in this homicide was arrested. Fred Douglas Brown, age 19, was taken in custody without incident in Southwest Division.
