Why:         
The Los Angeles Police Department Hollywood Area officers have partnered with the Officer of Council President Eric Garcetti, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and its Division of Adolescent Medicine and Community Leaders in Action, a group of parent volunteers seeking to end drug abuse and violence in the community.

Research conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services indicates that high crime and gang violence, easy access to drugs and alcohol, and lack of adult supervision and after school activities contribute to increased rates of substance abuse among youth.  These risk factors are still prominent in Hollywood.
