November 1, 2016

Los Angeles: Chief Charlie Beck met today with surgical staff at USC’s Keck Medical Center who determined that he does not require surgery to heal from the multiple pelvic fractures he sustained from his motorcycle accident this past Saturday. He will be recuperating at home for the next few days and intends to participate in several Department events over this coming weekend.

Chief Beck said, “I want to thank everyone who reached out to wish me a speedy recovery. I also want to thank the outstanding medical professionals who have been involved in my care and treatment.”

Chief Beck was injured during an off-road motorcycle trip with friends this past Saturday when his bike crashed on a rocky trail. He was able to ride his bike again and receive medical treatment at a local hospital where he was diagnosed with a pelvic fracture and bruised ribs.
