UPDATE

Los Angeles: The
Los Angeles Police Department Juvenile Division detectives were
able to connect Ricardo Augusto Utuy to another unrelated
crime.

After seeing Utuy’s photograph, an additional victim came forward
and provided a statement to detectives linking him to this
unrelated crime.

The extensive investigations into both crimes, have led detectives
to believe that there may be an additional victim; a male by the
name of Alex. Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance and
ask that if anyone recognizes Utuy to please come
forward.

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile
Division detectives are investigating a fatal stabbing that
occurred at a Clothing Factory in Los Angeles.

On Monday, October 31, 2016, around 5:15 p.m., Newton Area patrol
officers responded to a radio call of an “Assault with a Deadly
Weapon Investigation,” in the 1700 block of East Olympic Boulevard
in Los Angeles.

While officers were on there way to the radio call, they received
information that the victim, “Baby Ruby,” was on her way to a local
hospital in a private vehicle. Officers also learned that the
victim had sustained a stab wound.

Officers responded to the hospital, where they learned that “Baby
Ruby” had succumbed to her injuries.

The officers met with the mother of “Baby Ruby,” who advised them
that the stabbbing occurred at her place of employment in the 800
block of McGarry Street.

LAPD Juvenile Division’s Abused Child Section Detectives then
responded to the homicide scene and assumed the
investigation.

The police investigation revealed that ” Baby Ruby” had just been
picked up from daycare to be with her mother when the suspect
stabbed “Baby Ruby” without warning. Although the suspect and “Baby
Ruby’s” mother worked at the same location, they had minimal
contact wth each other.

The suspect stabbed “Baby Ruby” multiple times with a knife and
fled from the location. LAPD detectives alongside with officers
conducted follow-ups to locate the suspect. The suspect later
surrendered and was arrested at LAPD’s Rampart Division.

Ricardo Augusto Utuy

The suspect was identified as Ricardo Augusto Utuy, a male
Hispanic, 34 years old, Utuy was booked for Murder 187 PC with bail
set at $1,000,000.00.
