Los Angeles: On Friday, October 11, 2002, 40 Los Angeles Police Officers, including Deputy Chief Margaret York, Commanding Officer of Operations Central bureau, will be honored by the Los Angeles City Domestic Violence Task Force, and the Community Development Department, for their outstanding work in area of domestic violence throughout City of Los Angeles.
The honorees are part of the eight, Citywide, Domestic Abuse Response Teams (DART). DART is comprised of police officers and civilian advocates who respond to domestic violence locations after the original officers have responded and rendered the scenes safe. DART provides crisis counseling and referrals to victims of domestic violence.
Following the press conference, to announce October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, there will be an LAPD Officer Recognition Ceremony at 10:00 A.M., in the John Ferraro Council Chambers, followed by an Officer Appreciation Reception at 11:00 A.M., in the Tom Bradley Room.
