21 Year-Old Killed in a Traffic Collision

Los Angeles – On Wednesday, October 16, 20002, at approximately 2:15 a.m., 21 year-old Xiomara Rosales of Los Angeles, was the left rear passenger in a 1993 BMW that was being driven by 23 year-old Oscar Padilla. Padilla was driving at a high rate of speed westbound on 3rd Street. As he approached Virgil Street, he lost control of his vehicle and collided with the front end of a 1994 Ford Crown Victoria that was stopped for the red tri-light in the eastbound lanes of traffic.
This collision caused extensive intrusion into Padilla’s vehicle resulting in Xiomara Rosales sustaining blunt force trauma to her abdominal cavity. Xiomara was transported to USC Medical Center where she died as a result of her injuries. Padilla’s other passengers, Isell Ruiz sustained a complained of pain injury to the neck, back and left leg and was transported to California Hospital. Gleny Barrera sustained a pelvic fracture and was transported to Queen of Angels Hospital.
Padilla was later determined to be under the influence of an intoxicant at the time of the collision and was arrested and booked for 191.5 PC (Felony Vehicular Manslaughter). This case is pending a filing with the District Attorney’s Office.
