"Officer Involved Shooting with Knife Wielding Suspect"
 
Los Angeles: On Thursday, October 7, 2004, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Hollenbeck Area Police Officers Mark Dimitt, 42 years of age, 17 years with the Department and Ron Romero, 31 years of age, five years with the Department, responded to a radio call, "Battery, Domestic Violence, at 3451 East 1st Street."
Upon arrival, the officers were directed to a male Hispanic, later identified as 51 year-old Ruben Galicia, who was armed with several knives. Galicia attempted to throw the knives at the officers and an officer involved shooting occurred. Galicia was struck and wounded by the gunfire.
Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported Galicia to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center where he was treated and subsequently booked for Assault with Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer.
During the investigation, officers identified two additional victims that Galicia had assaulted prior to their arrival. Galicia is being held on a $50,000 bail.
