Cause of Death: On January 4, 1992, at 2:50 p.m., Southwest Area Officer George A. Rose, Jr. responded to a shooting in progress occurring adjacent to the Southwest Police Station. As a female victim attempted to seek shelter at the police station, Officer Rose responded to assist in the situation. As gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and police officers, Officer Rose was caught in the crossfire and sustained a gunshot wound to the head. On December 9, 2001, Officer Rose succumbed to his injury he sustained during the incident.
