Man Falls and Dies; Suspect Arrested

Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the death of a male Black, 48 years of age.

On October 1, 2002, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Rampart Patrol officers responded to 630 South Alvarado Street. Upon arrival, the officers were met by the reporting person that he had fallen out of a second story window when he was involved in a struggle with an unknown person and that they both fell out of the second story window.
The officers responded to the southside of the vacant apartment building and observed the victim down on the ground unconscious. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The reporting person was transported to USC Medical Center and was admitted for observation.
Rampart Homicide detectives responded to the hospital and interviewed Adrian Johnson, a male Black, 25 years of age. During the interview, he admitted to struggling with the victim and lost his footing as he shoved the victim out the window and tumbled to the ground with the victim. Johnson was arrested and booked for murder and is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
