Three Suspects Sought for the Murder of Jacobo Padilla

Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of Jacobo Padilla, a male, Hispanic, 26 years of age.

On Saturday, September 4, 1999 at approximately 2:50 A.M., the victim was standing at the northwest corner of the intersection of Court Street and Union Avenue. The suspects’ vehicle drove up eastbound on Court Street and parked at the southwest corner of the intersection. Three suspects alighted from the vehicle armed with handguns and gave chase to the victim. The suspects caught the victim in the 300 block of North Union Avenue. The suspects fired several rounds at the victim striking him multiple times. The suspects reentered their vehicle and fled southbound on Union Avenue.

Rescue ambulance responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The suspects are described only as three males, possibly Hispanics. The suspects’ faces were covered by clothing that had been pulled up to hide their appearance. The vehicle is described as a white Sports Utility Vehicle.

The area of occurrence is a high narcotic sales area. It is believed the crime is possibly drug related.
