Wilshire: On Saturday, September 8, 2001, at approximately 11:25 P.M., the victims were walking on the side walk in front of 5037 Pico Boulevard, when three male individuals walked pass them in the opposite direction. Just as the three individuals passed, one of the men turned and fired several rounds at the victims.
Both victims were struck by the gunfire. Victim number one, Raymond Hill, described as a male Black, 15 years of age, died at the scene as the result of gunshot injuries. Hill had no known gang affiliation. Victim number two was identified as April Taylor, 20 years of age. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment of gunshot injuries. Her injuries were not life threatening.
The suspects, described as male Blacks, ran north on Orange Drive immediately after the shooting. All three suspects and the weapon used are still outstanding.
The motive for this attack appears to be gang related.
