Drive-by Shooting Kills Pacoima Man

Los Angeles: On Thursday, September 5, 2002, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Foothill Area patrol officers responded to a "shots fired" radio call in the 13400 block of Van Nuys Boulevard in Pacoima.
Upon arrival, the officers discovered a shooting victim, Silverio Luna, a 22 year-old resident of Pacoima. Witnesses at the scene said that an unknown type grey vehicle pulled up adjacent to Luna, who was a pedestrian on the sidewalk. The front passenger said "Where you from?" and as Luna began to respond, a shot was fired from the car. Luna, struck in the head, fell to the sidewalk. The suspects fled the scene and have not been identified.
The victim was transported to Holy Cross Hospital by Los Angeles City Fire Department Rescue Ambulance in critical condition. The victim died a short time later. Detectives are investigating this incident as a gang related shooting.
