"Gang Related Shooting Leaves One Dead"

Los Angeles – On October 8, 2000, at approximately 6:30 a.m., a male Hispanic, 22 years of age, was standing on the corner of Figueroa Street and Amabel Street, using a public telephone, when an unknown suspect approached and shot him.

The Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Ambulance responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

The motive appears to be gang related. The suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
