Man Killed by Stray Bullet

September 16, 2005

Los Angeles:  Wilshire homicide detectives are investigating the murder of a man who was struck by a stray bullet in a drive-by shooting yesterday.
On Thursday, September 15, 2005 at about 8:00 p.m., Trinidad Sanchez, a 34-year-old resident of Compton, and his friend, were in the area of Pico and Plymouth Boulevards to pick up their paychecks.  While Mr. Sanchez was standing outside of his car, a newer-model black, compact 4-door vehicle drove past him, south on Plymouth Boulevard.  One of the occupants began shooting a handgun toward a group of people standing on the northwest corner of Pico and Plymouth.  One of the stray bullets struck Mr. Sanchez in the head.  The suspects drove away, west on Pico from Plymouth.
The shooter is described as a male Hispanic, 20-25 years old with a light complexion, wearing a white, long-sleeve shirt.
There is no description of the driver.  Witnesses were unsure if any other people were in the suspect’s car.
