7th Annual Randy Simmons 5K Run, Bike Ride and CrossFit Challenge Presented by LAPD’s Metropolitan Division

WHY:      
Police Officer Randall Simmons was part of the LAPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).  He was a 27-year veteran of the Department and was killed on February 7, 2008, during an eleven-hour hostage standoff in Winnetka, California.  He was the first LAPD SWAT Officer killed in the line of duty.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Metropolitan Division invites the community to participate in the 7th annual Randy Simmons 5K Run, Bike Ride and CrossFit Challenge.

All proceeds benefit the “Randy Simmons Foundation,” a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, that raises money to provide resources, programs and scholarships to empower and encourage families and “at risk” youth in low income and under-served areas.
