For the 9th consecutive year, the LAPD will partner with The Sunshine Kids Foundation to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for kids who are fighting cancer.

Why:
During the event, The Sunshine Kids will be sworn in as honorary LAPD Officers.
The ceremony, attended by 75 active and reserve police officers will also feature the LAPD’s Emerald Society’s Pipe and Drum Band and a flyover by an LAPD Airship.

After the swearing in ceremony, The Sunshine Kids will be transported in Black & White police cars through the streets of Hollywood.  In addition, the parade of police cars will be escorted by a team of LAPD Motorcycle Officers with lights and sirens.

The “honorary officers” will be greeted by the cast and crew of “Major Crimes,” watch an episode of the crime drama, tour the television set where the show is filmed and enjoy a complimentary lunch hosted by Raleigh Studios with the “Major Crimes” cast and representatives from the LAPD.

About the Sunshine Kids Foundation:

The Sunshine Kids is a national non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Established in 1982, the Foundation is committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. The Sunshine Kids provides a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America.
