Kidnap Suspect Arrested NR16297ma

Rampart: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department, Rampart Division, have arrested 50-year-old Maria Ramirez for kidnapping. On August 16, 2016 around 4:20 p.m., the 8-year-old victim was leaving a local elementary school in the area of Alexandria Avenue and Oakwood Avenue As the victim was walking, Ramirez, who is not known to the victim, approached her and took hold of the victim’s hand, saying “Come on, come on”. A witness, who is a crossing guard, saw what was happening and approached the victim and Ramirez. The witness grabbed of the victim’s arm and was able to free her from Ramirez. Los Angeles Police Department Rampart patrol officers responded and completed a crime report. Detectives completed their investigation and presented the case to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office who filed one count of felony kidnap. Ramirez was arrested today in Los Angeles and being held on $100,000 bail.
