What: For the 11th consecutive year, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) will partner with The Sunshine Kids Foundation to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for kids who are fighting cancer.

When: Thursday, September 22, 2016 9:15 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. (The Sunshine Kids Sworn in as Honorary LAPD Officers)

Where: Sheraton Universal Hotel – Rooftop of Parking Structure 333 Universal Hollywood Drive Universal City, California 91608

10:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Activities and Lunch with the cast of “Major Crimes”) Raleigh Studios – Set of TNT’s television show “Major Crimes” 5300 Melrose Avenue Hollywood, California 90038

Who: Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck Los Angeles Police Department Assistant Chief Michel Moore Actor G.W. Bailey, TNT’s TV Show “Major Crimes” and the Director of The Sunshine Kids The Cast of TNT’s Television Show “Major Crimes” Sunshine Kids from around the United States

Why: During the event, The Sunshine Kids will be sworn in as honorary LAPD Officers. The ceremony, attended by 75 active and reserve police officers will also feature the LAPD’s Concert Band and a flyover by an LAPD Airship.

After the swearing in ceremony, The Sunshine Kids will be transported in Black & White Police cars through the streets of Hollywood. In addition, the parade of police cars will be escorted by a team of LAPD Motorcycle Officers with lights and sirens.

The “honorary officers” will be greeted by the cast and crew of “Major Crimes,” watch an episode of the crime drama, tour the television set where the show is filmed and enjoy a complimentary lunch hosted by Raleigh Studios with the “Major Crimes” cast and representatives from the LAPD.

About the Sunshine Kids Foundation: The Sunshine Kids is a national non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Established in 1982, the Foundation is committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. The Sunshine Kids provides a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America.
