Fatal Hit and Run in South LA NR17203aj
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's South Traffic detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the driver involved in a hit and run that fatally struck 56-year-old, Cynthia Lee Wesley.On Tuesday, July 4, 2017, around 11:40 p.m., a vehicle traveling northbound on Vermont Avenue, collided with a pedestrian who was crossing Vermont Avenue at 140th Street in a marked crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene and render assistance. The vehicle fled northbound Vermont Avenue.
The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced her dead.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
