Man Shot and Killed On City Street

Los Angeles: On Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at about 11:55 p.m., Southwest Area patrol officers responded to a shots fired radio call in the 4200 block of Budlong Avenue. When they arrived they saw 28 year-old Dewayne Herring lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.
The investigation revealed that Herring had just left an acquaintance’s house. Within moments of leaving, the acquaintance heard one single gunshot coming from outside. The acquaintance went outside and saw Herring lying on the ground shot. A 1988-1989 white Chevrolet Camaro was observed speeding away from the scene.
The Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Herring dead from his injuries.
The motive for this murder appears to be some type of dispute. The suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding.
