Gang Related Homicide Leaves One Dead

Los Angeles: On Friday, August 29, 2003, at about 6:25 p.m., 22 year-old Raymond Lee Rhone was walking in the area of 37th Place and Normandie Avenue. A male Black about 18 to 20 years of age with a light complexion approached on foot and exchanged words with the victim. The suspect drew a handgun and for no apparent reason, fired a shot at the victim. The suspect was last seen on foot as he fled the location.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the location and transported the victim to a local Hospital. Rhone failed to respond to medical treatment and died at the hospital due to his wounds.
No motive for the shooting has been established and the suspects and weapon are still outstanding.
