Operations-Valley Bureau - Spanish Language Community Police Academy

Attention community members! Operations-Valley Bureau will soon be hosting a Spanish Language Community Police Academy. We invite all Spanish-speaking members of our community to join us in this great learning experience!

This is a ten-week course designed to broaden your knowledge on how the Los Angeles Police Department operates. Topics include:

Calls to 911 (how your call to 911 is handled)
Communications Tour (a tour of the 911 center, you’ll see the operators live!)
Jail Tour (a walk through the Metropolitan Jail in downtown, see how an arrest is processed)
Traffic Laws (learn how the police handle traffic collisions and the major traffic violations)
Domestic Violence (laws, who gets arrested and why)
Use of Force (policies regarding use of force, you’ll have an opportunity to use the Firearms and Tactics shooting simulator)

These are only a few of the classes. Classes will be every Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with the last day being the graduation and potluck where you will receive a certificate of completion.

Interested participants should meet the following requirements:

18 yrs of age or older;
No felony convictions;
No outstanding warrants;
No pending criminal cases; and
Live or work in Operations-Valley Bureau area.

The course is free of charge. We hope you’ll join us in this invaluable learning experience! Please call your local community police station to enroll.
