Athletic Coach Arrested for Sexual Assault, Detectives Look for Additional Victims

Clarification: Please note the suspect’s job title per the Los Angeles Unified School District is, Special Education Paraprofessional and is an assistant Football Coach

Los Angeles:
Birmingham High School special education teacher’s assistant and athletic coach arrested for sexual assault.

On Tuesday, June 10, 2008, detectives from the Van Nuys Sexual Assault Unit, arrested 40-year-old, Kevin Thomas for sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 18. Detectives believe that there may be other victims since the teenage victim was a participant in a private basketball workout program that Thomas held at Birmingham High School between 2004 and 2006.

The suspect was recently hired as the varsity defensive coordinator at Canyon High School in Canyon Country, and has been attending the spring football practices for the past several weeks.

Detectives are looking to talk to additional victims or to anyone who may have information about inappropriate contact with Kevin Thomas.
