Two Males Shot in Van Nuys

Van Nuys – On Wednesday, May 3, 2001, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Van Nuys patrol officers responded to a radio call, "ADW Ambulance Enroute Shots Fired" at 7510 Van Nuys Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found two male Hispanics, approximately 21 and 30 years old, suffering from gunshot wounds to their upper torso and arm. The victims were shot as they sat in their vehicle awaiting entrance into a business parking lot. The first victim, Rogelio Matt, a resident of North Hills was transported to Northridge Hospital where he later died from his injuries. The second victim, Edward Islas suffered a non-life threatening injury to his arm.
At this time no motive has been established, and no suspect information or weapon has been found.
