June 28, 2002

Los Angeles: On Thursday, June 27, 2002 at approximately 11:45 P.M. a fatal traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Westwood Boulevard, located in the Westwood area of Los Angeles. The victim, a 41 year-old resident of Hollywood California, identity being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was westbound in the number one lane of Pico Boulevard on his 1986 Kawasaki ZG1000 motorcycle. As he entered the intersection, Mr. Curtis Kuchenski, a 45 year old resident of Pasadena, driving a 1996 Ford F250 truck with a full camper attached, negotiated a left turn and collided with the victim.
The victim sustained major trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics. Witnesses stated the signal light for westbound traffic was green which would indicate the victim had the right of way. Mr. Kuchenski displayed objective symptoms of intoxication and was given a sobriety exam, which he failed. Kuchenski’s blood alcohol level indicated he was under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently arrested and booked for Felony Manslaughter.
