Buried Homicide Victim Identified

Pacific Palisades: On July 4, 2001, a citizen discovered a shallow grave on a bluff below the 15900 block of Asilomar Boulevard. West Los Angeles Homicide Detectives began an investigation to determine the identity and circumstances surrounding this discovery. The body was exhumed by forensic experts from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office on July 5, 2001.

On August 16, 2001, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office made a positive identification of the deceased through dental records as 23-year-old Claudia Flores who had been reported missing since June 12, 2001 from the 1000 block of Windsor Avenue in Los Angeles. The actual date of her disappearance was June 8, 2001.
The investigation revealed Flores was possibly murdered several miles from where she was discovered in the Pacific Palisades area.

The Los Angeles Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in this investigation. Photograph of the victim will be made available during the press conference.
