Why:
One of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives, Jose “Joe” Luis Saenz, was arrested late Thursday following a joint operation with the Mexican government, announced Bill Lewis, the Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office. Assistant Director Lewis expressed thanks to the Secretaria de Seguridad Publica (Secretariat of Public Security/Mexican Federal Police); the Instituto Nacional de Migracion (Mexican National Institute of Immigration) and the Procuraduria General de la Republica (Mexican Attorney General), as well as the FBI’s Legal Attaché in Mexico City and its Guadalajara Sub-Office.

Saenz was wanted for multiple murders charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney and, federally, for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution.

Saenz was returned from Mexico to Los Angeles this weekend under FBI escort.

Assistant Director Lewis will provide additional details at a joint press conference this coming Monday be joined by officials with the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
