On May 23, 2001, an officer involved shooting occurred near Balboa and Roscoe Boulevards in the West Valley area. An incident of this magnitude required the Los Angeles Police Department to establish a Command Post and a large perimeter in the immediate area. As a result of our tactical operation, some local businesses within the perimeter suffered a disruption in their service.
Despite the disruption to their operations, these businesses played a major role in assisting and supporting the Los Angeles Police Department in effecting its operational duty and responsibility in the community.
On Tuesday, June 5, 2001, officers involved in the incident, including Officer Jeffrey Nuttall who was wounded in the exchange of gunfire with the suspect, will be on hand to express their heartfelt thanks to the local businesses for their outstanding commitment to public safety and unwavering support of the men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department.
