"Tarzana Burglar Caught After Foot Pursuit"

Tarzana – Due to a pattern of early morning burglaries that were occurring in the Tarzana area, Los Angeles Police Department, West Valley Area detectives employed the assistance of Los Angeles Police Department’s Metropolitan Division. On Friday, March 17, 2000, several undercover Metropolitan Division officers were deployed in the impacted area.

At approximately 4:00 a.m., the officers were successful in observing a suspect jump over a wall and attempt to pry open a rear door in the 5900 block of Chimineas Avenue. Subsequently, when the officers attempted to make an arrest, the suspect fled on foot and was caught in the area of Etiwanda Avenue and Oxnard Street. The suspect, who has not been positively identified by name, was arrested for burglary at West Valley Community Police Station.

If any resident in the Tarzana area has been a recent victim of an early morning burglary and has not yet reported it to the police, it is requested that the resident call Detective DeRousseau or Sergeant Merrin at West Valley Burglary Detective Section, telephone number 818-756-8546.
