Composite Released of Reseda Attack Suspect NR16162ml

May 11, 2016

Reseda: Detectives have released
a composite of a White man who attacked an 18-year-old woman
walking home through an alley, south of Victory Boulevard and east
of Corbin Street, March 27, 2016.

“So far, this is the only such attack we’re aware of,” said Det.
Ninette Toosbuy, the lead detective in the case out of the West
Valley Detective Division. “This type of stranger attack is very
rare, but represents a real danger. We want to find this man right
away.”

The victim, who is a student, was walking home around 10:00 p.m.,
when she cut through the alley. She heard the sound of a folding
knife opening then felt someone grab her and hold her against the
wall, with a knife to her throat. The suspect sexually assaulted
the woman then ran away.

The young victim went home, feeling scared and ashamed, but
uninjured. She did not tell anyone what happened for several
weeks.

“As a detective and as a woman, I understand how a victim might
delay reporting a sexual assault out of fear or shame,” Det.
Toosbuy explained. “Once she felt reassured and encouraged by a
family member, she did come forward and provided useful
details.”

Detectives have canvassed the area for video footage and are
searching parolee list for suspects who fit the MO or the
composite. The victim described the man as 25 to 27 years old, with
a medium height and build. The composite sketch has a distinct
look.
