Pedestrian killed by DUI Driver

Los Angeles: On Sunday, February 6, 2005, at about 12:30 a.m., in 77th Street Area a fatal traffic collision occurred on Vermont Avenue and 69th Street.
The driver of a 1996 GMC Safari van, was driving south on Vermont Avenue, in the number three lane, when he collided with a pedestrian crossing in an unmarked crosswalk on Vermont Avenue. The victim was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
The driver later identified as Melvin Ross of Los Angeles was arrested for gross Vehicular Manslaughter while Intoxicated.
The victim a male Hispanic was unable to recover from his injuries and died at the hospital. His identity is not being released at this time pending notification to his family.
