Grand opening of Home Depot and announcement of corporations community involvement
Los Angeles: On Thursday, July 26, 2001 at 10:00A.M., the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) along with Home Depot Retail stores will celebrate the grand opening of the first Home Depot in the South Los Angeles area.
Home Depot prides itself in community involvement and support of local civic organizations. The company’s progressive philanthropic budget was more than $25 million in year 2000, which was directed back to the communities Home Depot serves. Home Depot has announced that they will work with the 77th Street Community Police Station to remodel homes, provide financial support to at-risk youth activities, and offer disaster relief within the 77th Street Area.
Home Depot has built an LAPD report writing room inside the new 187,000-sq. ft. retail store. It will include a refrigerator, microwave, desks, and bathrooms for the officers of the 77th Street Area to use.
