Los Angeles – On May 3, 2001 at approximately 7:30 a.m., 80 year old Juan Duarte of Los Angeles was struck by a 1995 Mazda MPV mini-van near the intersection of Bemis Street and Alger Street. The vehicle was driven by Patricia Godinez-Vallejo, also from Los Angeles. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
On May 3, 2001 at approximately 7:30 a.m., 80 year old Juan Duarte of Los Angeles was struck by a 1995 Mazda MPV mini-van near the intersection of Bemis Street and Alger Street. The vehicle was driven by Patricia Godinez-Vallejo, also from Los Angeles. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Duarte sustained head and chest trauma and transported to USC County Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
Godinez-Vallejo was arrested for 192(c)(2) PC, Vehicular Manslaughter and booked at 77th Street Jail.
