LAPD Arrests Three Murder Suspects NR10255ah

Los Angeles: Three suspects have been arrested in a murder investigation that occurred in South Los Angeles on March 27, 2010.  

On May 11, Los Angeles Police Department gang and narcotic detectives arrested Chenoby Russell, 19, and James Evans, 18.  On May 13, a third suspect identified as Deanthony Miller, 19 was also arrested.  All three suspects are from Los Angeles and have been charged with murder and attempted murder.

According to investigators, 18-year-old Kendall Williams and a male companion stood on a sidewalk in front of an apartment building in the 900 block of West 68th Street with a group of friends.  A black Nissan Maxima with tinted windows pulled up and stopped in the middle of the street.  The front passenger inside the vehicle pulled out a handgun, opened fire and struck both Williams and her companion. A Metropolitan Division patrol unit observed the shooting and chased the vehicle toward 66th near Kansas Streets where the suspects bailed out of the car.  Police set up a perimeter, but the suspects were able to escape.

Paramedics rushed both victims to California Hospital where Williams died the next day.  The other victim was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg and released.
