Suspect Charged in Murder of a Chinatown Resident NR14378ne

Los Angeles:  Murder Charges filed in August, 2014 murder of Chinatown resident slain in South Los Angeles.

On August 14, 2014, around 11:25 a.m., in the 1800 block of 64th Street, James Reed approached David Ng in an attempt to rob him.  During the robbery Reed shot Ng and fled the scene in an awaiting vehicle driven by unknown suspect.  The vehicle was only described as a dark colored sedan.  The driver is still outstanding and described as a male Black in his mid 20’s.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to treat Mr. Ng who succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at scene.

On Friday, October 3, 2014, Reed, who is a resident of Los Angeles and documented gang member, was taken into custody by Southwest Division officers.  The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office and murder charges were filed on Tuesday, October 7, 2014.
