"Murder Suspects Remain at Large"

Los Angeles – On Sunday, September 17, 2000, at 9:00 p.m., a 17-year-old male Hispanic, was standing on the sidewalk of the 1500 block of E. 33rd Street with a friend. A small white vehicle with four male Hispanic suspects drove up and stopped in the middle of the street. All four suspects got out of the car. One of the suspects fired multiple rounds from a semi-automatic pistol. The victim was struck multiple times in the upper torso. Several of the victim’s friends were on 32nd Street and heard the gunshots; They drove over to the victim’s location, and placed him in their vehicle.

The victim’s friends flagged down a Police Officer at 33rd Street and Hooper Avenue, and reported the incident. A rescue ambulance transported the victim to University of Southern California Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Newton Detective Mathew Spillane stated that "The motive appears to be gang related, and that no suspects have been identified."
