"Traffic Accident leaves a 16-year-old In Critical Condition"

Los Angeles – On September 18, 2000, at approximately 7:10 a.m., a traffic collision occurred when the 45-year-old driver of a 4-door sedan traveling eastbound on Exposition Boulevard collided with a 16-year-old pedestrian crossing northbound in a marked crosswalk on Exposition Boulevard at Pardee Way. The mother of the 16-year-old, who was present at the time of the accident, was waiting for her daughter to cross the street when the sedan struck the victim. The pedestrian, identified as Maria Bolainec, was transported to USC Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

The 45-year-old driver remained at the scene and offered her assistance. The preliminary investigation has revealed no evidence of intoxication. The driver was questioned and released. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles City Attorney who will determine if charges will be filed against the driver.
