"Pedestrian Dies from Traffic Collision"

Westwood: On September 27, 2000 at approximately 10:30 A.M. a fatal traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Beverly Glen Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard. Harry Barndt, a 37 year old, resident of Los Angeles, was negotiating a right turn from southbound Beverly Glen Boulevard to westbound Santa Monica Boulevard in his 1989 Dodge van when he collided with a pedestrian. The pedestrian fell to the roadway and was drug 15 feet before the driver realized what had happened and came to a stop.

The pedestrian, who is an unidentified elderly female, was treated at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics and transported to UCLA Medical Center. Dr Lofredo administered treatment but she failed to respond and was pronounced dead at 11:10 A.M. due to major head and upper torso trauma.

Witnesses claim the van had a green light to proceed with his right turn and were not sure which direction the pedestrian was walking. The driver was interviewed and released at the scene without being cited; however the investigation is still on going. This collision is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division.

Anyone with information should contact the primary investigator, Detective Fischer at West Traffic Detective Section 213-473-0222.
