West Valley – On Saturday, October 7, 2000, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Community Police Station will be hosting its annual open house. The community members wanting to get an inside look at a police station or a closer look at a jail without being arrested, climb on a fire truck or pretend to drive a military Humvee will want to participate in this fun event. In addition, this year will be the first to combine the open house with a bicycle safety fair for the kids. Kids of all ages are invited to a free Traffic Safety Rodeo with their own bicycles. The Traffic Safety Rodeo will be put on by the representatives from Safe Moves.
The members of the SWAT team, the mounted horse unit, a police helicopter, the motorcycle unit, a Bomb Squad display, the off-road motorcycle detail and the LAPD Mobile Museum will also take part during the open house.
This open house is just one event, which highlights LAPD’s commitment to community policing. West Valley Community Police Station is located at 19020 Vanowen Street in Reseda.
